They are most popular for their Nagara architectural symbolism and the numerous erotic sculptures that adorn both the inside and the outside of the buildings. Probably the most popular temple of all is the Kandariya Mhadeva temple, which boasts incredibly intricate decorations with high cultural and artistic value, speaking of the fascinating ancient India. Interestingly, all these worship places were built at the same time, yet they were dedicated to two different religious schools: Hinduism and Jainism. This suggests that people were very tolerant and respected other religious beliefs, Jains and Hindus being perfectly capable of living together, regardless of each other’s spiritual views.
